READY4CAREER – Mock Interview 2026: An Opportunity to Experience Real-World Interviews with Industry Professionals

Mock interviews are one of UEH’s annual career development initiatives, designed to help students strengthen their employability skills, enhance their interview readiness, and build a solid foundation before entering the job market. Building on the success of previous editions, the READY4CAREER – Mock Interview 2026 program continued to provide students with an authentic recruitment experience, offering opportunities to engage directly with industry professionals, receive practical feedback from experienced recruiters, and further develop the confidence and competencies needed for their future careers. Held over two days, from July 30-31, 2026, at UEH’s Nguyen Tri Phuong Campus, the program brought together more than 40 HR professionals and managers from leading organizations across a wide range of industries, including auditing, finance, retail, pharmaceuticals, e-commerce, consumer goods, manufacturing, logistics, and consulting. Participating companies included C.P. Vietnam, ALSUCO, Chailease Vietnam, EY Vietnam, Shopee, DNL HealthCare Group, Rau Ma Mix – Olong Chau Milk Tea, FPT Long Chau, TOPCV Vietnam, MM Mega Market Vietnam, Dialectica Vietnam, Motives Vietnam, CJ Foods Vietnam, Masan Consumer, TH Food Chain, Forvis Mazars Vietnam, and RSM Vietnam. Through their participation, these organizations provided students with valuable insights into evolving recruitment expectations and the competencies required to succeed in today’s dynamic job market. Students participate in mock interview sessions with industry professionals As part of the program, each student participated in a 20-30 minute mock interview designed to simulate a real recruitment process. Beyond interview techniques, the industry professionals also shared practical advice on crafting compelling application materials, building a strong personal brand, and preparing for the transition into a professional workplace. These real-world insights enabled students to better understand employers’ expectations, empowering them to proactively develop the skills, mindset, and professional qualities needed to thrive in today’s increasingly competitive job market. Industry professionals provide personalized feedback on students’ CVs, interview responses, and career development The program fostered an engaging and interactive atmosphere through direct conversations between students and HR professionals. Many participants took the opportunity to discuss topics such as building effective application materials, responding confidently to interview questions, choosing a workplace that aligns with their career aspirations, and planning their professional development after graduation. Drawing on real recruitment scenarios and students’ questions, the industry professionals shared practical advice and valuable insights into what employers look for in promising candidates. Beyond the mock interviews, the program also created meaningful networking opportunities, enabling students to connect directly with company representatives and laying the foundation for future internships, employment opportunities, and long-term professional relationships. Students engage in meaningful conversations with industry professionals in a welcoming and supportive atmosphere The program featured multiple mock interview sessions conducted simultaneously across different interview zones, creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment. Students had the opportunity to interact directly with HR professionals and experience recruitment processes that closely reflected real-world hiring practices. By bringing together recruiters from a diverse range of industries, the program enabled participants to gain insights into different career paths while experiencing various interview styles and employer expectations. More importantly, it provided a practical learning environment where students could strengthen their communication skills, critical thinking, and ability to respond confidently to real interview scenarios. A vibrant overview of the mock interview sessions throughout the program The program concluded with memorable moments as representatives from UEH and its partner organizations came together for commemorative photos, marking the successful completion of two meaningful days of learning and professional engagement. Beyond providing students with valuable insights into today’s evolving job market, the active involvement of industry professionals also strengthened the connection between academia and industry, fostering a collaborative learning environment that prepares students for future career success. Representatives from UEH’s Department of Student Affairs and partner organizations pose for a commemorative photo at the conclusion of the program Through realistic mock interview sessions, personalized feedback from industry professionals, and open discussions with experienced recruiters, UEH students gained a deeper understanding of their strengths, refined their interview and job application skills, and developed greater confidence as they prepared to enter the professional workforce. Following the program, many students shared positive reflections on their mock interview experience: Ms. Doan Thi Kim Ngan, a final-year student majoring in Commerce: “The program gave me the opportunity to experience a real recruitment process and receive personalized feedback and career guidance from industry recruiters. I truly appreciate how professionally the program was organized by DSA. Bringing together many reputable companies, the program offered valuable learning experiences, especially for final-year students who are preparing for internships and entering the job market.” Ms. Nguyen Ngoc An – Final-year student, Business Administration “The Mock Interview program was very meaningful and helpful, especially for students who are preparing to enter the recruitment process. The list of participating companies and job positions was clearly provided, so I could learn about the opportunities and prepare before the interview. The company representatives were also very friendly, supportive, and made me feel comfortable throughout the interview. Through this mock interview, I had the chance to experience a real interview process and received valuable feedback that helped me recognize my strengths as well as the skills I still need to improve. I would like to sincerely thank UEH, DSA, and all the participating companies for organizing such a practical and valuable program for students.” Ms. Nguyen Bao Linh Dan – First-degree student, Business Administration “After the interview, I felt much clearer about the career path I want to pursue and gained a better understanding of my strengths and what suits me best. My interviewer was confident, professional, and made me feel comfortable throughout our conversation. Most importantly, I learned many valuable lessons about interview techniques, how recruiters review and evaluate CVs, and how to better understand my own career fit. I truly appreciate her guidance and would like to thank her for such a meaningful and valuable interview experience.” Ms. Le Thi Hoang Dung – Third-year student, E-commerce “The mock interview with CJ Foods Vietnam Co., Ltd. was a very positive and valuable experience for me. Why do we feel lonely in a world full of connections?

In workshops, seminars, conferences, and club events, networking has become an essential skill for many young people. It offers opportunities to expand relationships, explore career directions, and create valuable connections. However, beneath the energy and excitement of these interactions lies a question worth considering: Are you a Net-worker or a Net-collector? Why are we afraid of being a stranger? In spaces created for connection, such as workshops, seminars, and club events, feelings of isolation are often more common than we realize. Many people have found themselves standing in a crowd without knowing how to start a conversation, comparing themselves to those around them and worrying that they might come across as ordinary or uninteresting. This fear is not simply a result of poor communication skills. As relationships increasingly become a form of social capital, many young people unconsciously view their ability to connect with others as a reflection of their competence, confidence, and even their self worth. When we see others chatting with ease, exchanging opportunities, or quickly finding their place in a new environment, it is easy to feel that we are somehow behind, not good enough, or being left out. What is noteworthy is that this fear does not necessarily stem from poor communication skills. In a world where relationships are increasingly viewed as a form of social capital, many young people unconsciously treat networking ability as a measure of competence, confidence, and personal worth. When we see others engaging naturally in conversations, exchanging opportunities, or blending effortlessly into a new environment, it is easy to feel left behind or not good enough. This pressure gradually transforms social interactions from opportunities to discover new people into tasks that must be completed. When the goal shifts from understanding others to gaining their approval, anxiety inevitably grows. The feeling of being surrounded by strangers and not knowing how to break the ice. (Source: Internet) Net-worker or Net-collector? The popularity of networking culture has led many people to believe that the more connections they have, the more opportunities they will gain. While this is not entirely wrong, problems arise when quantity begins to replace quality. At many events, exchanging contact information, connecting on social media, and introducing oneself often happen so quickly that participants barely remember whom they met or what they discussed. Networking can then be reduced to a process of seeking benefits or collecting opportunities. However, networking has never been about asking for favors or building relationships solely for future use. At its core, networking is the process of building trust through meaningful value exchange between people. From an economic perspective, relationships function much like a balance scale. Someone who continuously receives support without contributing anything in return is unlikely to sustain meaningful connections over time. In contrast, individuals who give, whether through enthusiasm, active listening, fresh perspectives, or small acts of support, often leave a far deeper impression. The value of networking is not determined by how many connections one accumulates, but by whether the other person senses sincerity and a genuine desire to maintain the relationship. Perhaps the focus should not be on what we can gain from an interaction, but on what we can bring to it. Participants engaging in networking activities at the Ho Chi Minh City Internship and Career Fair (UEH Career Fair) (Source: UEH) Social burnout: When trying to fit in exhausts you Another common misconception is that networking is only for people who are outgoing, highly sociable, and capable of sustaining conversations effortlessly. As a result, many introverts or individuals with lower social energy feel pressured to change themselves to fit the environment. They push themselves to be more proactive than necessary, fill every silence with small talk, or project confidence despite feeling drained inside. While this may initially create a sense of belonging, over time it can lead to social burnout. Signs of social burnout extend beyond simply feeling tired after meeting many people. They can include feelings of emptiness, a loss of interest in social interactions, or the sense that one has become inauthentic during conversations. Relationships formed through constant self-pressure are also less likely to last because they lack the comfort and mutual understanding necessary for growth. In reality, the ability to connect is not determined by who talks the most. It depends on who makes the conversation more meaningful. The Art of Connection: Moving Beyond Networking Pressure From Quantity to Depth If stranger anxiety stems from the pressure to connect quickly and with as many people as possible, overcoming it does not require becoming more talkative. Instead, it requires a shift in how we view networking itself. A meaningful relationship is not created within a few minutes of self-introduction. It develops through repeated and meaningful interactions over time. Shift the Goal: Be Remembered, Not Merely Known Many people attend events with the goal of meeting as many people as possible. However, the number of connections does not necessarily reflect the quality of relationships. Rather than pressuring yourself to participate in every conversation, focus on leaving a genuine impression in a few interactions that truly matter. A conversation that makes someone remember your perspective, kindness, or energy is often far more valuable than dozens of superficial greetings. Start with Small Connections Not every meaningful relationship begins with a long conversation or a major opportunity. Sometimes, leaving a thoughtful comment on LinkedIn, asking a question at the end of a session, or expressing appreciation to a speaker can be the first step toward building a connection. Small but intentional interactions reduce social pressure and make networking feel more natural. Apply the 3 – 2 – 1 Rule One practical way to avoid feeling overwhelmed while networking is to set realistic expectations. The 3 – 2 – 1 Rule can be interpreted as follows: Meet three new people at each event to avoid spreading your energy too thin. Have two meaningful conversations rather than numerous brief exchanges. Send one follow-up message within 24 hours to maintain the connection. The purpose […]
