July has closed out the summer at UEH English Zone in 2025 with a vibrant atmosphere and unfinished plans. Before the new academic year, UEH English Zone transformed the familiar virtual space of UEHers into a meeting point for like-minded souls to meet, share, and grow together. UEH English Zone, along with the familiar companionship of the BELL CLUB and the School of Foreign Language, painted a diverse emotional journey from innocent childhood memories to deep reflections on the rhythm of youth, proving that geographical distance has never been a barrier to connection.

Every Tuesday, the time for regular activities with UEH English Zone

Flexible across various online platforms, UEH English Zone still maintained its English playgrounds every Tuesday afternoon, making learning and practice more interesting than ever.

Kicking off July with the Dixit Board games session at the EZ Boardgames event “The Untold Whisper”, UEHers immersed themselves together in a colorful virtual world with metaphorical images to tell their own stories. At the same time, “Cash Out Clash”, with its battle of “billionaires” holding a large amount of assets with a strategic mind, unleashed creativity in every move, marking the end of the online board games session.

Besides the Boardgames activities, the month’s EZ Talks, named “Broketopia”, was also an activity that attracted a lot of attention. The session was a place where people openly shared the difficulties of managing expenses while living away from home, listening to advice and perspectives from others to help the journey of independence for UEHers become more “manageable”.

Additionally, EZ Silver Screen “New Boy” created a cozy movie session, helping UEHers enjoy the artistic values of the Oscar-nominated work. This short film touched the viewers’ hearts with its story of empathy and the feeling of being “out of place” that everyone has experienced, opening up a deep and meaningful discussion.

From Stories of Returning to Childhood to Moments of Being Lost in Your 20s

Additionally, the BELL CLUB took students on a train back to childhood with the theme “Pixels of Joy”, from the magnificent fairy-tale castles of Disney to the colorful films and profound messages sent by Ghibli. This was not just a social gathering, but also a warm, nostalgic space, helping each person realize how those “pixels of joy” have contributed to shaping who we are today.

Following the childhood story, the BELL CLUB continued to lead UEHers to the screen of our time with the theme “Life Filter”. When living in a world where a simple swipe is enough to open up “impressive” posts, with hours spent glued to the screen, we have accidentally lost connection with ourselves. The theme touched upon the deep concerns of the young generation about pressure from social media and building a personal image, creating a space for you to comfortably express views on the balance between real and virtual life, and to understand each other’s feelings.

An Unexpected Reunion with On-screen “Crushes”

If Bell Club offered moments of deep reflection, the SFL brought a breath of fresh air with the theme “Celebrity Crush” in episode 61 of ECOFF. Each of us has had a “crush” on a famous person at some point, someone who makes our heart skip a beat with just one appearance on screen or stage.

At the same time, in episode 62, “The Digital Mirror”, you all reflected on the impacts of social media, where each person questioned their relationship with the “digital mirror.” This was a great opportunity to practice critical thinking in English through a topic that is both familiar and profound this July.

Distant yet cozy, a place where first “crushes” were confessed through the screens

Although the gatherings only took place on online platforms, you all succeeded in creating memories full of laughter, helping everyone practice English on a relatable topic while realizing that admiring someone is also a sweet spice of youth.

July at UEH English Zone has concluded with a complete experience, bringing knowledge, joy, and sincere connection. Each activity was a piece of the puzzle, contributing to building a dynamic, confident, and always-ready-to-learn community of UEH students.
