
UEH Student Singing Competition is one of the traditional cultural and musical activities for UEH students. It provides an opportunity for students from all levels and programs to develop their inner talents and gain more confidence in themselves. The competition contributes to enhancing the overall educational quality for students while shaping musical tastes, promoting traditional values, fostering ethics, and celebrating the cultural identity of Vietnam.
To celebrate Vietnamese Teacher’s Day and 48-year journey of formation and remarkable development of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), this competition is a cultural platform for students across all levels and programs studying at UEH, including Full-time, Dual Degree, Part-time, and Postgraduates students at all campuses (including the Vinh Long campus), and those in international training programs in collaboration with UEH, UEH-VUW, and other institutions. With the topic of expressing pride for hometown, school, teachers, and friends, the competition is an opportunity for UEH students to express their dreams, aspirations, emotions, and responsibilities toward themselves, their families, and their communities.
The final night and award ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao – Vice President of UEH; Dr. Nguyen Tan Trung, Chief of Administrative Office at the School of Business – UEH; MA. Nguyen Van Duong, Standing Deputy Head of Department of Student Affairs; MA. Tran Thi Thuy Hai – Deputy of Department of Student Affairs; Mr. Nguyen Huu Tien – President of the UEH Student Union, as well as contestants, students, and audiences. The final judging committee included top experts in the music field: Mr. Tran Thanh Son – Member of the Vietnam Musicians’ Association, Head of the Jury; Dr. Nguyễn Khánh Trang – Lecturer in Vocal Music at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music; Mr. Trương Quang Tuyến and Mr. Lê Quốc Thắng – Members of the Vietnam Musicians’ Association.

In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao shared: “With a long history of student art movements, UEH Student Singing competition is an annual activity that helps guide cultural and artistic activities for students and contributes to achieving the goal of comprehensive education. UEH not only trains excellent scientists and entrepreneurs in their fields of expertise, research, innovation, and creativity, but also cultivates an appreciation for art, develops aesthetic thinking, and enriches the inner spirit”.

Emotional Performances
The top 10 finalists for the grand finale were chosen by the jury from among the more than 120 competitors in the preliminary rounds. The contestants performed two songs: A self-chosen song and a themed song – about the topic of celebrating the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, hometown, school, and teachers. With carefully considered attire, polished presentation, and dance illustrations, the competitors’ performances were expertly staged. Each performance showcased distinct characteristics, demonstrating the talents and creativity of the students, bringing a range of emotions to the audience.

The UEH Student Singing Competition 2024 Grand finale ended with soft and emotional melodies. The performances were not only visually stunning but also excelled in conveying meaningful content, deepening the love and understanding of the beautiful traditional values of Vietnam, while also spreading the creative spirit and pride of UEH students.
