Academic writing skills are critical in the university environment, especially in implementing theses, projects and scientific research articles published in quality journals. Writing skill is also one of the four skills of international language certification tests such as IELTS, TOEFL, SAT, GRE, GMAT, which requires a lot of strict standards in terms of words, grammar, logic, and vocabulary. In addition, the special feature of academic writing is that information must be presented in a clear, systematic and logical manner.

The requirements for academic papers are not easy. Many people have difficulty applying this skill in life, especially when using a second language like English. Some problems can be mentioned, such as limited vocabulary, insufficient information, or coherent reasoning. This greatly affects the results of the article and the credibility of the information conveyed, thereby not being appreciated professionally.

To help UEHer learn more and have the opportunity to improve their academic writing skills, English Zone and the School of Foreign Languages present a seminar with the topic”Academic writing: Write it right” in the series of periodic activities Language Workshop. With the companionship of Dr. Deborah Laurs, Assistant Manager of Student Learning at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, the workshop promises to bring a lot of helpful information and opportunities to discuss this interesting topic.
