December was not only a time for UEH-ers to reflect on the past year but also an opportunity to spread traditional values ahead of New Year 2025. With diverse and creative topics ranging from cultural discussions to heartfelt reflections on family and personal goals, UEH EnglishZone brought together students from all levels and programs at UEH, empowering them to communicate confidently in English and creating countless memorable moments.
A Festive Atmosphere at UEH English Zone
Christmas – one of the most anticipated holidays of the year – is not just a time for exchanging gifts and warm wishes but also a moment to foster love and share joy. To celebrate this occasion, UEH English Zone, in collaboration with the BELL English Club, brought a cozy Christmas event with the topic Speaking Group Extended “Merry Snowy”.

Additionally, the topic of “New Year Everywhere” took students on a journey to explore how different countries around the world celebrate the New Year. From vibrant fireworks displays on New Year’s Eve to the warm and tranquil atmosphere of traditional family gatherings, each country has its own unique way of welcoming the New Year. Participating in the program, students enthusiastically shared their perspectives and knowledge about celebrating the Lunar New Year in Vietnam and worldwide.

As the festive season fills the air, the pull to return home grows stronger. Whether the distance is short or long, the journey to home is always embraced with the excitement of reuniting with family, friends, and cherished childhood memories. With the topic of “Homecoming”, students shared heartfelt discussions about family and familiar emotions tied to the different “homes” across Vietnam. This gathering occasion was a meaningful gift from UEH EnglishZone, conveying best wishes for a fulfilling year ahead.

Reflecting on the past year isn’t just about celebrating achievements but also about understanding yourself better, about strengths, limits, or even regret. For UEH-ers, 2024 was a year filled with emotions, marked by memorable events, academic accomplishments, and joyful moments at UEH. With the topic of “Mirror of Life”, the EZ Talk event encouraged students to share personal milestones and memories, from overcoming challenges to cherishing significant milestones. Through this, participants learned to appreciate what they have and visualize the road ahead, preparing for new goals in 2025.

In addition to the familiar and relatable EZ Talks topics, online boardgame activities continue to serve as a bridge, strengthening connections among UEH-ers. With a focus beyond asset ownership and strategy-building, Monopoly becomes a tool for learners to enhance their English communication skills through lively negotiations and bargaining. Stepping into the online Monopoly board on the Topia platform during the event “Don’t Let the Money Fall”, players are not only challenged in strategic thinking but also encouraged to unleash their creativity with every move. From bidding on properties and building houses to navigating unexpected “twists,” each round is an engaging and exciting experience.
