FACEBOOK RENAMING – NOT JUST BE FACEBOOK?

Facebook has changed the name of its holding company to Meta, aiming to reflect its focus on building the Metaverse.

The rebrand is anticipated to refresh the brand identity, repositioning the Facebook app as one of many products under a parent company overseeing groups like Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus, and more.

On October 28, at the company’s annual Connect Conference, CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the official change of Facebook’s name to Meta. The name change is intended to refresh the brand identity, reposition the social networking application Facebook to become one of many other products of the company, such as Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus…, thereby separating the parent company from the social network facing a series of crises.

Previously, in July, Mark had stated, over the next several years, “we will effectively transition from people seeing us as primarily being a social media company to being a metaverse company”. And this move is completely in line with Mark Zuckerberg’s ambitions, reflecting Facebook’s focus on building the metaverse, where people can live, work, interact and connect in a 3D virtual world – rather than just social networks. Metaverse is expected to be the next evolution of the Internet, and it’s ushering in a new chapter for Facebook – now Meta.

“Our hope is that within the next decade, the metaverse will reach a billion people, host hundreds of billions of dollars of digital commerce, and support jobs for millions of creators and developers,” Zuckerberg said.

Facebook’s rebranding effort makes people think of Google’s restructure into a new holding company called Alphabet in 2015. However, the corporate structure is not changing; platforms with billions of users every day, such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp… still work with the unchanged name. So you can rest assured that nothing like “May I ask for your Meta?” will happen!

CIRCULAR ECONOMY IN VIETNAMESE COFFEE PRODUCTION AT WORLD EXPO 2020

In early October, Minh Tien Group (a member of the Vietnam Coffee – Cocoa Association) presented the Circular Economy Model revolving around coffee at the World Expo 2020, taking place in Dubai (United Arab Emirates – UAE).

The World Expo – the biggest non-commercial exhibition in the world, is organized every five years. This year, the event takes place within six months, from October 1 to March 31, 2022. The World Expo 2022 is an opportunity for Vietnam to demonstrate our national elite values, affirm our position, promote our image and strengthen international relations.

At the World Expo 2020, Minh Tien Coffee Group introduced the circular economy model in coffee production, recreating 5 production stages corresponding to 5 products. Specifically, after the preliminary processing process, Green coffee beans are exported and produced Coffilia finished coffee. Coffee pods are collected to make Ha Chuc Cascara tea. Rice husks and coffee grounds are used to produce Namigo biological products. Finally, the leftovers are turned into organic fertilizers. These fertilizers can be used for coffee growing.

The operating model follows the philosophy of fully utilizing the “quintessence” of coffee beans by optimizing the value, with waste products from the previous stage becoming raw materials for the next.

The international media highly appreciates Vietnam’s circular economy model. This can be seen to be a breakthrough, promising to open many opportunities for Vietnamese coffee to affirm its position and contribute to promoting to the world a different perspective of Viet Nam’s modern and sustainable agriculture.

Besides this model, the Vietnam Pavilion at World EXPO 2020 Dubai also features other outstanding products and activities. With the theme “Distilling the Past, Shaping the Future”, this is an opportunity to showcase our country’s beauty, potential, and development opportunities to millions of visitors and international media. In particular, Vietnam Day, taking place on December 30, 2021, is considered the most important and attractive event of Vietnam at Expo 2020.
