On May 23, 2025, the UEH School of Foreign Languages, in collaboration with UEH English Zone, successfully organized a workshop with an extremely engaging theme: “Language Workshop: Unlock your academic superpowers: Study like a Pro.” The program was honored by the participation and sharing of Dr. Nguyễn Thị Ngọc Dung, a Lecturer and Student Learning Advisor at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, who also has many years of teaching experience at Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.
The workshop provided a vibrant and highly interactive learning space where UEH students could explore and unlock their latent “superpowers” to conquer their academic journey. Dr. Nguyễn Thị Ngọc Dung skillfully guided participants through four essential skill pillars:
- Smart Time Management: Students were introduced to effective strategies such as the Pomodoro Technique, Time Blocking, and the Eisenhower Matrix (prioritizing urgent-important tasks). Dr. Dung emphasized the importance of setting clear goals, learning to say “no” to protect study time, and utilizing supporting technology applications.
- Sharp Critical Thinking in the AI Era: In the context of rapidly developing artificial intelligence, critical thinking skills have become more crucial than ever. The speaker encouraged students to always ask questions, evaluate information sources, and overcome cultural barriers to form solid arguments.
- Effective Exam Strategies: Instead of passive revision, Dr. Dung introduced the “Active Recall” method through turning notes into questions, using flashcards, and teaching the material to others. Detailed tips for pre-exam and on-the-day preparation were also shared.
- The Power of Self-Love in Learning: A special highlight of the workshop was the importance of self-care. Students were inspired to prioritize their physical and mental health, celebrate small progress, create a positive learning environment, and practice self-compassion.
Throughout the workshop, the atmosphere was consistently open, featuring discussions, practical exercises, and experience sharing from the students themselves. They actively participated in identifying their strengths and weaknesses, self-assessing their time management skills, and contributing to a collective pool of exam tips.
The “Unlock your academic superpowers: Study like a Pro” workshop is a testament to the relentless efforts of UEH English Zone and the UEH School of Foreign Languages in creating a dynamic and practical English learning environment. It aims to help UEH students not only enhance their language proficiency but also equip them with essential soft skills for success in their studies and future careers.
