Our September ended with the first rain showers of the season. However, regardless of the weather, English Zone remains cozy thanks to various Club activities, EZ Talks and Boardgames, and the enthusiastic spirit of our UEH students. Let’s take a look at what happened at English Zone this September!

Celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival in a new place – Far from sight but not far from the heart

Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Tet of Reunion, but students who live far from home are too busy with school and work to gather with their families. Understanding those sentiments, on September 13, UEH English Zone cooperated with the SFL to organize Coffee Talk #28: Mid-Autumn. At this Coffee Talk, students had the opportunity to sit down together, tell memorable Mid-Autumn Festival stories, and make new plans for the future. This might help UEHers to enjoy a special and unique Mid-Autumn Festival while being away from home.

Furthermore, September is an extraordinary milestone because it is the month of welcoming new UEH students K49. On September 21, the UEH BELL Club and the UEH English Zone collaborated to organize the Speaking event “Speaking Group Extended – Fit in UEH,” with the goal of assisting new students in integrating into their new environment and improving their English communication skills. Students were able to share ironic stories, communicate, meet up, form new relationships, and take a more solid step forward on the University path thanks to this event.

Go one, get one free – Accumulate new skills at English Zone

This September, EZ Talks and Board Games activities took on a new and more diverse format. The first thing to mention is the combination of discussing topics and learning new skills in Talks, such as making paper lanterns and, more importantly, using basic sign language.  Developing sign language skills is a UEH English Zone breakthrough, with the goal of bringing UEH students closer to becoming global citizens and integrating with diversity in today’s learning and working environment. This innovation has helped students gain new soft skills that will help them in their future endeavors and has created a lively atmosphere for Talk sessions.

Board games continue to take the spotlight in the hearts of students at English Zone, with games such as Codenames, Avalon, Taco, Jenga, Coup, and others. The EZ Collaborators team has cleverly arranged interspersed games of varying difficulty levels to make them more user-friendly for all players.

“Boardgame EZ is extremely easy”they said

September flew by with a bustling and enthusiastic atmosphere at UEH English Zone, creating an environment for UEH students to “learn while playing, play while learning.” The coming months at English Zone are expected to be even more exciting, so make sure to like and follow the UEH English Zone fanpage to stay up to date on our activities!
