Journey through the Power – up Stations of September at UEH English Zone

In September, UEH English Zone became a meeting point of continuation and new beginnings, where the spirit of English Zone warmly welcomed the freshmen of cohort 51 for the very first time. The vibrant atmosphere of the back-to-school season left unforgettable marks, where every moment turned into a memorable piece of the participants’ journey. The activities truly became “energy charging stations,” helping students not only recharge their spirit but also enrich their English skills. Let us board the train of memories and travel through a September full of vitality at the UEH English Zone!

Recharge the inner energy

September at UEH marked a new journey, welcoming the freshmen of  K51 as they stepped into university life with excitement and anticipation. To kick off such a vibrant season, the English Zone introduced a series of themes as unique “energy stations” designed especially for young students. Opening the journey was “Ignorance is Bliss”, a strong message about focusing on self-development and not letting meaningless gossip drain one’s energy. Continuing that momentum came “Choices”, where participants shared about important crossroads in life while also listening to diverse and inspiring perspectives from their peers.

Participants played a short game before moving into the discussion topic “Ignorance is Bliss.”

Understanding that pressure sometimes repeats like an endless cycle, making it difficult to break free, the topic “Vicious Cycle” was chosen to create a space where participants could openly express themselves and discuss ways to escape those invisible loops of stress. They did not only join a conversation, but also received renewed energy to continue moving forward with confidence.

In the same spirit, the English Club (BELL) introduced the topic City Quest”, where students shared their experiences and stories in Saigon, recalling both amusing and challenging moments during their studies and daily life. Through these exchanges and new friendships, they were able to improve their English skills in a natural and engaging way.

The sharing station with unique topics

Life is a colorful picture, where each perspective paints a different shade. As a multidisciplinary university, UEH values this diversity and creates spaces where every student can express their own point of view. At Silver Screen: The Wild Robot, participants watched a short film and then engaged in an intriguing discussion: can a robot truly understand freedom? From there, the conversation touched on themes of love and personal identity. In Lazy Boy”, the journey of a lazy boy was depicted through mistakes and stumbles, yet filled with lessons about responsibility. The film set the stage for a lively atmosphere, where participants not only reflected on the character’s story but also bravely shared their own experiences of growing up.

The engaging and meaningful “Silver Screen” film sessions can only be found at UEH English Zone.

In particular, “The Mirror World” opened up an inverted and paradoxical universe – where the more money one has, the poorer they become, and the more they sleep, the higher their grades rise. These ironic situations not only brought novelty but also sparked cheerful laughter and lively debates among participants. Within that atmosphere, an underlying message was conveyed: sometimes, looking at things from an opposite perspective can help us release pressure and discover new meanings in our journey of study and life.

The station of connection through art and inspiration
Within each person lies a bustling marketplace of thoughts, yet also a quiet sky of art. In September, Faculty of Foreign Languages, together with UEH English Zone, brought special “energy stations” where students could put aside their books for a while and open their hearts to their own creative worlds. In the theme “Art is in the Eye of the Beholder”, participants reflected on the diverse and distinctive beauty of art through their personal lenses. Continuing that spirit, “Musical Bridges” became a bridge connecting kindred souls, as students shared their musical interests and unexpectedly found those from the same “fandom,” sparking laughter, excitement, and the birth of new friendships.

Moreover, September also featured a unique DIY activity: each participant created their own flag, embedding personal imprints and the stories behind every piece. The colorful flags and heartfelt sharing turned the discussion into a true “creative charging station,” where everyday stress was released and replaced with joy and inspiration.

The fiery station of endless fun

One of the signature “stations” that has made UEH English Zone well-known is the board game space – where energy bursts forth in every match. September opened with “Exploding Kitten – Zombie Edition”, where each card revealed brought a wave of cheers that made the atmosphere hotter by the minute. Following that, “The Resistance” and “Avalon” were no less thrilling, offering rounds of intense reasoning where sharp wit and the ability to read others determined victory.

Participants attentively listened to the host explaining the rules, ready to step into the challenge and strive for victory.

“Monopoly Deal” continued the board game series under the theme “Go Big or Go Home”, allowing players to transform into real investors, engaging in lively buying, selling, and negotiating just like on a trading floor. And of course, “Hungry Monkey + Uno” brought bursts of laughter, drawing everyone closer together. Altogether, these games created a fiery atmosphere where students not only “burned” with excitement in every match but also naturally practiced their language skills through each spirited round.

Outstanding players beamed with joy as they received lovely souvenirs from English Zone.

Those board game sessions were not merely for entertainment, but truly became mental energy stations for every participant. EZ Board Game has shown that learning English is not only about stressful lessons, but also a fun-filled experience where every moment turns into something memorable and effective.

September at UEH English Zone was marked by activities that were both lively and meaningful, harmoniously combining academic elements with personal experiences. Beyond supporting the improvement of English proficiency, the program also created a multidimensional interactive environment that encouraged sharing, understanding, and community bonding. Step by step, English Zone has been affirming its role as a holistic space for learning and experiencing, where individuals can develop skills, expand connections, and create sustainable values.
