Internships are also an excellent way for students to gain practical information that is difficult to obtain in school. Typically, the employer will require a university/college degree in the relevant profession, as well as “n” years of experience. That prompted the inquiry, “Is it still possible to land a job with around zero internship experience?”

The answer is definitely “YES.” However, in Vietnam, there aren’t many businesses that don’t require internship experience or, at the very least, a certain level of specialized knowledge in the industry. In contrast to neighboring Japan, a world power that has been compared to a dragon of Asia, there are still applicants for industries such as IT, engineering, and so on…with no knowledge. Everyone knows that Japan is a country that sticks to rules and regulations to the point of stereotypes. But even in Japanese culture, “training people from scratch” is given priority over “helping someone who has too much experience seek new limitations,” making this a noteworthy point. Each employee will have 3 to 6 months to train and practice after joining the organization. During that time, everyone begins from scratch to learn about communication, workplace culture, and essential professional abilities, and it all starts from zero.

Internships are a period of transition from an educational environment to a realistic society, which is more straightforward than using the knowledge gained in college lecture halls to perform the tasks that have been allocated. A mid-term internship will often be required of UEH students in the middle of their third year of college. Students can also select a Graduate Internship in their fourth year and write their Graduation Thesis.

After the internship period, UEH students firstly, discovering one’s interests is a crucial component of university life, and internships are a fantastic method for UEH students to achieve this goal. College students can gain experience in their intended career through internships, which can help them determine if it is a suitable field for them. Post-internship students are more likely to be certain that they have made the proper degree choice by the time they graduate. Additionally, employers always view internship experience as a bonus.

Secondly, internships provide UEH students the chance to practice certain skills before applying them in the workplace. It is an opportunity to apply what students have learned in a safe environment where mistakes are fully controlled and predictable – instead of learning the hard way on the first job after graduating from university.

Last but not least, an internship is a stepping stone for UEH students to transition to a job. While a job offer may not always be made right away, an intern who creates a strong impression may receive an offer when the opportunity arises.

From a blank sheet of paper to a masterpiece

From the employer’s point of view, is a student who has never done an internship the reason for their application to be rejected?

An inexperienced candidate has both advantages and disadvantages, and this is not a major disadvantage. In terms of benefits, most of them believe that even if students lack experience, they are compensated with a spirit of curiosity, absorbing new knowledge whenever and wherever they can to quickly integrate into the working environment. Those with experience, on the other hand, are only familiar with their way of working and find it difficult to absorb the opinions of others. New interns will spend more time and effort digging deep into a certain issue when they are not thorough. Many students want to become official employees of the company after their internship, so they will make every effort to not miss out on job opportunities. As a result, their work performance is always outstanding. This enhances the productivity of other employees in the company.

These “new breezes” always bring a fresh thinking approach, as well as innovative creative ideas. Meanwhile, creativity and innovation are critical factors in assisting businesses to grow in the future. Furthermore, recent graduates are always eager to express themselves and demonstrate their competence at work. When companies facilitate them, they will do their best to supply creative yet usable content. Furthermore, as members of the younger generation, they can quickly grasp all societal trends and changes. The “rookies” will understand how to use this strength to solve the assigned tasks more effectively, making up for their lack of experience in many cases.

Furthermore, for some young people, the term “progressive” sometimes exceeds the expectations of their predecessors and becomes “ambitious.” However, it is thanks to this ambition to succeed and become famous that new graduates are often more obedient and attached to the organization. It may appear contradictory, but if you are a manager with two employees. One has been working for many years, while the other is a recent graduate who has never worked through an internship company. You’ll notice that the student, like his son, is slowly emerging from the cocoon and eager to get in shape in the sun. Their mentality will always be very enthusiastic to work, will always investigate and listen, will always try to come up with ideas, will always absorb ideas, and will always do their best.

Real-life perspective from UEH students

Diem Quynh (UEH 4th year student – 5 months of internship) sincerely shared: “Some organizations merely require interns who have worked in a working environment, basic soft skills while going to work, a positive attitude and a spirit of curiosity, and a willingness to contribute to the business.” On the other hand, it’s great that you’ve decided to join in more Union – Association events at school. Employers will value your enthusiasm, contributions, and achievements. However, this will not be as stunning as real-world employment experience. So, regardless of your academic orientation and plans, I believe you should use your spare time to experience reality, learn new skills from occupations to experience first, and help you learn and grow a lot.”

However, some students have not been able to orient themselves specifically for their chosen path, resulting in a delay in the internship process and the need to fill out a job application form for a company. Minh Thuy (4th year UEH student) remarked that “applying for a job at a place where I have no experience is a phenomenon of the majority of students nowadays and myself.” Indeed, many of you will choose your orientation more slowly than others in terms of identifying your passion; if you are not passionate, it will be tough to operate in your employment environment in the long run. As a result, if you have discovered a career you want and can devote yourself to that work for an extended period of time, you can choose to self-study to learn more about that field in addition to studying. at school. Furthermore, because I came from a different major than the one I want to pursue, I may be at a disadvantage in comparison to other students who have gone into that field, so I can start from various positions. the smallest in that field to gain experience so that I can pursue a job in the field that I love.”

After all, whether or not you have internship experience does not totally influence your destiny. However, if given the opportunity to face reality for themselves and discover their own potentials, no student will reject! And UEH wishes that students will always confidently choose a road to discover their new potentials, regardless of whether it is correct or wrong, because youth is for experience. Best wishes!

Content, Photos: Department of Student Affairs

References:

https://ybox.vn/ky-nang/tomo-8-loi-ich-cua-viec-di-thuc-tap-60fe526ea89f57304ef31dab

https://123job.vn/bai-viet/uu-va-nhuoc-diem-cua-sinh-vien-moi-ra-truong-ma-nha-tuyen-dung-quan-tam-3994.html

https://kenh14.vn/tu-chuyen-kinh-nghiem-chuyen-nganh-con-so-0-nhung-van-duoc-nhan-cho-den-van-hoa-tuyen-dung-doc-dao-cua-cac-doanh-nghiep-nhat-ban-20200216205412463.chn

Before enrolling in a certain company, students will undoubtedly consider the company’s requirements for the…

[104,18
