UEH English Zone successfully organized the language workshop \u201cStop Translating! – Powerful Strategies to Read and Write in English\u201d featuring insightful sharing from Ms. Nguyen Yen Khoa. The workshop addressed one of the most common barriers faced by English learners: the habit of translating word by word when approaching the language and attracted strong interest from UEH learners.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

From a practical perspective, the session introduced more effective approaches by encouraging a shift in learning mindset. Instead of reading word by word, participants were guided to read in chunks to better grasp complete ideas. At the same time, focusing on overall meaning rather than trying to understand every single word helps make the reading process more flexible and natural.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In terms of writing, the speaker emphasized the importance of writing directly in English instead of translating from Vietnamese, thereby developing language reflexes and more natural expression. Vocabulary learning was also reframed, not as a tool for translation, but as a resource for use by placing words in specific contexts to enhance retention and practical application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop created an interactive learning environment where students actively asked questions, exchanged ideas, and explored ways to apply these strategies in their daily learning practices.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
