Have you ever wondered how to think independently in an era when AI can generate information in just seconds? As technology reshapes how people learn, communicate, and access knowledge, critical thinking has become an essential skill. Recognizing its importance, UEH English Zone organized a Language Workshop: \u201cLeveraging Critical Thinking in the AI-Mediated Era\u201d at the Nguyen Van Linh campus, offering students a chance to explore, practice, and strengthen their critical thinking skills in the age of AI.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop was led by Mr. Andy Tri Nguyen, who has extensive experience in language teaching and research. With his open-minded teaching style and positive energy, Mr. Andy inspired students throughout the session. Under his guidance, participants not only learned theoretical knowledge about critical thinking but also practiced analyzing, questioning, and exchanging ideas logically and creatively through group discussions and interactive activities.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exploring the concept of \u201cCritical Thinking\u201d through brainstorming<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students were introduced to the foundations of critical thinking through engaging brainstorming exercises<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the start of the workshop, Mr. Andy encouraged participants to brainstorm key terms that describe critical thinking. This activity helped students consolidate their understanding and refine the definition of this essential skill. Many participants shared that it helped them clearly distinguish between simple thinking and critical thinking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Andy emphasized that critical thinking is not about opposing others\u2019 opinions, but about evaluating issues based on evidence and understanding the reasoning behind every decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another interesting moment came when Mr. Andy asked, \u201cWhy do we agree with certain opinions?\u201d Through this discussion, students realized that people often rely on their prior knowledge to shape their beliefs. However, when exposed to new information or perspectives, we must redefine our old understanding to expand our way of thinking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Andy also shared that critical thinking requires examining issues from multiple perspectives, such as cultural background, environment, or online behavior. Differences in worldview, life view, and value system explain why people may interpret the same issue in different ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students participate in lively group discussions right in the program<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the group discussion segment, students were divided into small teams to debate the benefits and drawbacks of AI-generated content. Each group presented their viewpoints, challenged others\u2019 arguments, and reached conclusions based on credible evidence. This activity helped participants practice the six-step process of critical thinking: clarify, question, identify, analyze, evaluate, and create.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Andy also shared a practical tip: \u201cWhen using AI tools, the clearer your prompt, the better your result.\u201d This example perfectly illustrated how critical thinking can be applied in the digital age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Engaging content lasted until the very end of the workshop<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the end of the workshop, students expressed that they had not only deepened their understanding of critical thinking but also learned how to apply it effectively in their studies and daily lives. The event was more than just a lesson, it was an opportunity to practice reasoning, reflection, and confident expression in English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the enthusiastic guidance of Mr. Andy Tri Nguyen, the \u201cLeveraging Critical Thinking in the AI-Mediated Era\u201d workshop took place in an atmosphere full of energy, openness, and inspiration. It was undoubtedly one of the most memorable activities of UEH English Zone – a place where students not only learn a language, but also cultivate thinking skills, soft skills, and the art of reasoning – essential elements for both academic success and future careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
